Disney-Pixar created the character of “Doc” Hudson as “...the wise, quiet country doctor who runs Radiator Springs’ medical clinic. Before Doc slowed down in Radiator Springs, he was the Fabulous Hudson Hornet…”
Hudson began producing cars in 1909, but it wasn’t until 1951 that they began producing the Hornet. Uniquely, the floorpan footwells recessed down, in between the car's chassis rails, causing one to “step down” into a Hudson giving it a sleek low look and low center of gravity.

In the early 50’s racers noticed that the Hornet consistently beat out the V-8 competition when it came to acceleration and handling, allowing Marshall Teague to take home the AAA Stock Car Driver of the Year in 1951. Teague drove a Hudson he called the “Fabulous Hudson Hornet”.

In late 1954, Hudson merged with Nash and by 1958 the Hudson name was retired and the focus in the racing word moved to the more powerful V-8’s. However, the likes of Paul Newman, who was the voice of “Doc”, owned several. Enthusiasts around the world, still enjoy the car today.
